Build a DNA Molecule!


While searching for good materials for teaching cell biology, I found this good site for learning how nucleotides fit together. DNA code is partly based on the unique ways each nucleotide pairs only with its complimentary nucleotides!

Try the game and you can see easier than I can explain in writing how they are like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle!

Strawberry DNA and musical giraffes

We are about to begin a new week, the last full week before Winter Break. Ryan and I have an interesting, if not cool, experiment related to DNA and genetics planned. The plan is to extract the DNA from a strawberry. Hmmm.....

  • The New York Times published a story today about a new career option for folks who like science, "Genetic counselors". There are over 1,000 genetic tests a person can get these days.
